Shula vs. Croom 2006

Ever since Shula was hired, Sylvester Croom has been on the war-path, he's still at it 3 and many losses years later. Minus the "race" factor Je$$e Jac$on tried to stir up that was not only way off base but severely (as always) factually inaccurate. So much so it made the former 20 year coach at Arkansas, Nolan Richardson's tirade seem all the more stupid....he's still calling the university racist after they replaced him with one of his proteges Stan Heath, who happens also to be black, the last time I looked...

In 2004 Shula beat MSU 30-14 in T-Town. Jarius Norwood provided one long 70 yard run for a TD and then Bama opened up the floodgates with KD going for 200+ and Pennington chipping in. MSU was virtually shut down the rest of the way, until a late TD mad the score a bit closer before Bama finished it with a late TD of their own. In 2005 Bama won 17-0 at Starkville limiting MSU to around 100 yards of total offense. Bama ran well enough but the o-line caused absolute heck for Croyle, he finished with a bad game, mostly because Closner went down and so our already weak o-line became chicken with head cut off like,in addition to their immense lack of talent. One TD was scored on special teams fumble recovery caused by Jimmy Johns. Jimmy Johns also ran a play at QB and ran for 13 yards and a first down. Jimmy Johns is from Mississippi.

JJ was the Mississippi Player of the Year....he played at QB in an option/spread atatck I believe....Croom recruited him as a RB, Bama said if he could do it, he could play QB at Bama. Croom lost his prized recruit to Alabama...So now Shula is being accused ever so threough the media of committing recruiting violations. Croom has no evidence of course and is very vague and kind of under handed in his allegations, using off-set subjects like "JJ is not ever going to start at QB at Alabama" to paraphrase him...to the best of my ability. Nevermind the fact Croom never recruited at all to play QB at all, and most likely would have never allowed him to even take a snap or very few. JJ jas a QB package at Alabama...Which would be used more if Bama's o-line didn't jump everytime he lined up to take a snap or some one summit a hold to nullify his 10 yard gain(that has happened a lot this year).

Jimmy Johns is firing back at Croom, yet still mad at Shula for playing time reasons.

Shula fired back at the Croom comment last year when on his Sunday show reviewing the game, he said after reviewing JJ's 13 yard run at QB, "Some people said he would never play QB at Alabama". MSU and Alabama are 90 miles away form each other and the closest schools in the SEC, have had a tremendously spiteful Basketball rivalry(Hello Mario Austin etc. etc.), and now have feuding head coaches. They meet on Saturday for Shula vs. Croom round 3......Bama 24 MSU 6 RTR!!!!!
